Every semester, within the context of our cooperations, we welcome international guests to a semester abroad or a Master course here in Mannheim. We have visiting professors from partner universities who teach block modules or whole semesters.
Internationality at home
Who studies with us?
The majority of our Bachelor students are from Germany and/or have a German school-leaving qualification. They study together with approx. 23% fellow students from abroad.
Beyond that, we have our exchange students, who – thanks to partnerships and international cooperation programmes – spend one or two semesters in Mannheim.
As a member of the German-Brazilian education programme"Ciência sem Fronteiras"/'Science without Borders', we also have scholarship students from all over Brazil, who come to Mannheim for two semesters to study and/or to do an internship.
Many former exchange students come back after the completion of their studies in their home country to do their Master studies at our department.
Participants in our international Master programme are, on the one hand, graduates of our three Bachelor courses and of other German universities, and, on the other hand, graduates of partner universities (incl. the double Master degree) as well as selected applicants from all over the world.
All students can benefit from this international environment. Studying together (lectures, laboratory working groups, project teams) creates – together with the integrated language training – perfect conditions for the integration of foreign students. At the same time, it offers their German fellow students a unique opportunity to prepare for the demands of a globalised economy.
The figures speak for themselves: our dropout rate is less than one foreign student per year (compared to 50% on the national level for international courses of study).
